United Way Surpasses Campaign Goal by More than $10,000

JAMESTOWN – Officials and supporters of the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County celebrated the completion of a successful campaign last night at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts.

Themed “United We Fight, United We Win,” United Way Executive Director Amy Rohler tells WRFA the campaign was a knockout success and was able to surpass its goal of $1,335,000.

“We exceeded by about $12,000 so it’s $1,347,000 and change,” Rohler said, who also noted all the money stays local. “”We have 39 programs that we fund and those represent 26 different local agencies from southern Chautauqua County. Those range from many programs people are familiar with – like YWCA, Red Cross, Salvation Army – and others that are less familiar to people like Findley Lake Community Connections which is a great model for how to get things done in a rural community when you don’t have a lot of resources. I recommend really visiting our website and Facebook page to get a full picture of all the great things we’re doing, not just from the funding programs but also the collective impact work we do.”

Rohler also said that Tuesday’s event was intended to just celebrate reaching the campaign goal, but to also thank those who made it a success.

“First of all it is a lot of work done by a lot of people and we want to honor those people. But we also want to take the time to acknowledge some of our key campaign contributors,” Rohler said. “We have small businesses that are new contributors like Eight Limbs Wellness Yoga Studio that we are excited to highlight. We also had Wegmans, who excited last year’s total by about $10,000 so we wanted to acknowledge that. We did some cool things with local high school football teams so we wanted to acknowledge that. And it’s just good to celebrate a long, hard trek!”

“We are very grateful, and without everyone united in this effort, we wouldn’t have the amazing outcomes,” added Kurt Eimiller, Campaign Chair. “United Way continues to serve our community, the place we all call home.”
